Risley and Associates is an Arkansas based firm that specializes in full service architecture and planning. We pride ourselves on repeat clients and long term relationships. Our medium sized firm has the ability to handle large projects without sacrificing quality and personal service to our clients.

With a diverse staff of ten, we are capable of providing design, production and construction administration for many different types of projects. We are well Revit and are capable of providing a wide range of services from 3D renderings for community presentations to complete construction documents for bidding and construction administration.

Tim A. Risley and Associates was established as a one-man “shop” in Fort Smith in April, 1978. The firm concentrated on general practice and by 1985 had grown to a staff of 15 with four registered architects. The client list included St. Edwards Hospital, Fort Smith Schools, Baldor Electric Company, City of Fort Smith, GNB Battery, OK Foods, Inc. and others.

We have, by choice, chosen not to specialize in any particular market, pursing instead diverse, long term clients. Tim A. Risley & Associates has worked for the Fort Smith School District since 1980, Arkansas State Parks since 1990, Baldor Electric Company since 1995, J.R. Young Development since the late 80’s, Curtis Properties since 1988 and OK Industries since 1991.

Approximately seventy percent of our practice involves repeat clients. We feel the “diverse” approach has led to a stronger, more nimble and certainly more creative firm that values the process of design for solving unique Owner needs, as opposed to repeating the previous effort.

Over the years, the firm has developed a respected reputation for a high level of client service; strong, quality design; accurate documents and specifications; and a tenacious “firm-yet-fair” approach to Owner/Contractor relationships.[/wpbucket_heading][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″ el_class=”col-md-offset-1″][vc_single_image image=”414″ img_size=”full” el_class=”outline-bordered-right”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_section full_width=”stretch_row”][vc_row][vc_column][wpbucket_heading wpbucket_style=”sec” wpbucket_title=”Our Staff” wpbucket_big_title=”Meet Our Team” wpbucket_class=”wow animated fadeInLeft”][/wpbucket_heading][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][wpbucket_teams wpbucket_team_group=”%5B%7B%22wpbucket_icon_social%22%3A%22fa-adjust%22%7D%5D” wpbucket_title=”Tim A. Five of those years were with BFTH Architects, where he worked his way up from intern to project architect on a 20-million-dollar airport expansion project.  The remaining years were spent as project architect with the multi-disciplined Pearce Corporation, a nationally known architectural firm with extensive experience in the institutional fields of schools, medical offices and health care facilities. From 1978 until the reopening of his original office in 1987, Tim was the chief operating officer and principal architect for the firm of Risley Childers & Associates, Architects/Planners/Consultants, and Fort Smith, Arkansas. Practical experience involves all phases of the planning, development, and construction process including feasibility studies, programming, site evaluation, financing, design, and construction observation.

He holds an undergraduate degree in architecture from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He has served several local charities; on the Board of Directors for 15 years and served as Board President for Clearinghouse Community Services; current member of the Board of Directors for Girls, Inc. and the Fort Smith Planning Commission; has served as a board member of local chapter of American Institute of Architects and an active board member of Keep Fort Smith Beautiful With Pride Committee. Rett has worked on a wide range of projects covering 16 states and has a strong background in project management. He has worked on most of the government projects in this office and has been chief architect for all projects with Military Department of Arkansas since 2014. He is very familiar with the building entitlement and permitting processes in difficult jurisdictions ranging from southern California to the New England states.
Construction Administration is a passion for James. You can design a great project, only to see it built in a manner that is not pleasing to the owner nor the architect. The design is only one part of the project, you must finish it with complete construction documents, proper bidding and working with the Owner and the General Contractor to see the finished project is of great pride to everyone involved and very pleasing to the end users.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][wpbucket_teams wpbucket_team_group=”%5B%7B%22wpbucket_icon_social%22%3A%22fa-adjust%22%7D%5D” wpbucket_title=”Larry R. As the CAD work became primary, Tim’s knowledge of computers moved him into a role of teaching others how to use the program, while he was also learning methods of design and construction. Within a few years, Tim would move up to a project architect role on projects, both local and across the country, working with the military and government agencies on everything from offices and schools to shopping centers and medical office buildings.
